(eeeeeeeh!

Was I still emergency food to Garon? (I thought we were getting along…)

“…emergency food?

I heard the Demon King’s puzzled voice. Stunned, I looked ahead and saw that Shiva was holding his head in his hands.

That’s right, it was Shiva who told him to tell the other demons to say emergency food when they asked me about me. Garon just obediently followed his instructions. I’m sure that’s true. I’m sure that’s what it was.

Even though I knew Garon didn’t mean it, it was a shock to actually hear it from his mouth. I was surprised at myself, but I loved Garon as family. I resisted the urge to punch Shiva in the back of the head as hard as I could.

”Huh… hahaha, emergency food. So the weapon was a condiment? That’s a masterpiece!”

The Demon King’s voice echoed through the hall as he cooed and laughed in a funny way.

“Berger, how did the emergency food taste?”

“No, I am embarrassed. I meant to make fun of Shiva a little, but it was a terrible experience”

It was the tiger from earlier that answered the Demon King’s question. Before I knew it, he was sitting side by side with me and I felt no sign of him at all, which made me cringe.

“I’ve dealt with countless people who came against me with swords and magic, but I never thought that I’d be subjected to that kind of trouble with condiments… Even though I was caught off guard, I was completely done in. I’m not done yet either.”

“I certainly didn’t think there was a way to fight like that. It’s really interesting. You’re Miho. Let’s see your face.”

I looked up at the Demon King’s command and saw his face for the first time.

… I was surprised. Sitting on the throne was a young man who seemed to be in his early twenties. If it weren’t for the horns that existed like a crown in his dark hair, he was an ordinary good-looking man. His blue eyes stared at me curiously.

”Who are you? Why were you in the woods?”

When I was about to answer the Demon King’s question, Shiva’s eyes, which looked back at me, seemed to be saying, ‘Don’t say anything unnecessary. In his own way, he might be worried about me.

(I remember that priest asking me the same question when I was just summoned here.)

At that time, Ren was still in these arms. The only person who can prove who I am is Ren.

There was no need for lies and deceptions. I am me.

I looked straight at the Demon King and said.

”It’s nice to meet you, Demon King-sama. My name is  Ichimiya Miho, I’m 37 years old and Japanese.

“About three months ago, I was summoned to this world with my thirteen-year-old son.”

“Because I resisted the priests who wanted to turn my son into a hero of convenience, they considered me a hindrance and left me in the forest, wounded and injured.”

“I guess they wanted the demons to kill me to take advantage of my son’s vengeance.”

“But Garon helped me to get to where I am today.”

“A hero?”

“Summoned three months ago?”

The demons around me begin to buzz at my answer. The tiger called Berger was staring at me next to me. Shiva doesn’t look at me.

…Did I make a mistake? I might have made Shiva’s position worse by being honest. I regretted my shallowness in not thinking that far ahead.

“Quiet.”

A single voice from the Demon King brought silence back to the hall.

“Shiva, did you know?”

“Yes, sir. I knew.”

“Why didn’t you tell me?”

“I had intended to report back to you after this one’s wounds had healed. I just wanted to check on him for a while.”

“Why did you decide to wait?”

“…because Garon took a liking to this human being.”

I could see that everyone in the hall was stunned by that last statement except me and Garon.

“For Garon’s sake, you say?”

“Yes, sir. The reason I adopted Garon was that I was guilty of making him look like this, but this child adored me and was a good listener.”

But when it came to this human, he didn’t listen to me. It was the first time I had ever done so. That’s what got me interested in this human. She had just met him…how did she win Garon’s heart? Why did you survive?”

Shiva looked at me.

“After living with them, I understand. This human is not afraid of Garon. On the contrary, she even loves him like a child now.”

(What, they found out? Well, I’m prioritizing food, too, just because Garon is growing up.)

“Garon, why didn’t you eat this human?

When asked by the Demon King, Garon said once and for all.

“It’s because when I first met her, she told me I looked like a dragon and that I was cool. I gave her some fruit and she smiled and thanked me for it. It was the first time I’d ever been with anyone other than my grandfather.”

I’m going to tear up.

I wonder how lonely this child has been in his life. I can’t believe there was no one but Shiva to have such a normal interaction with.

“Miho, why weren’t you afraid of Garon?”

The Demon King asks with interest.

“I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t scared, but the emotion of meeting a large and beautiful creature outweighed that.”

“I couldn’t move because of my injuries, and I was ready to die.”

“That time the Garon gave me some fruit and I felt like I was coming back to life. It’s funny, but at that moment I thought it would be nice if Garon could eat me.”

I said honestly and looked at Garon. Garon looked at me, tilted his head and said

“But I’d rather eat the pudding Miho made every day than Miho.”

I couldn’t help but laugh at the words as if they were a proposal, and I hugged Garon.
